Upcoming 817 shows and some music for your ears

Hardcore in 2023 feels like football season but all year around. As we reach the last quarter of the year, we are continuing to experience a non stop influx of shows, festivals and new music. Speaking of music, subscribing to the Hate5Six Patreon channel is one of the best subscriptions I paid money for. From there, I was able to watch the Ballista video from this past weekend when they play Dark Side of Da Moon fest in New York. If you haven’t I encourage you to subscribe to the channel, it is well worth it.

Upcoming 817 shows

August is getting ready to end off the summer on the hot tip. Currently and still in triple digit weather, hc kids still attending shows, back to back, with an uncanny amount of energy. September is on the way to make a quick stop, but not without having a handful of shows lined up. Tap images below for upcoming shows.

Test My Will- True Spirit EP

Test My Will is a FWHC band reaching my radar recently from left field. They just released a banger of an ep that’s tough to beat. Containing elements of mid to late 2000’s tough guy hardcore, the 3 piece project runs about 5 mins and is available on your preferred streaming platform. Featuring a classic hc, anthemic sounds with the lyrics to match, Test My Will presents itself with a mean mug, equivalent to the neighborhood pitbull you shouldn’t mess with. What I love about the project is it’s a metallic two- step fun fest, hard hitting to the core and staying true and blue to the code. Tap the image above to give the ep a listen.

I stumbled upon the Houston band Path of Vengeance via Twitter. The band page popped on my feed somehow, compelling me to check them out. Within a quick second, I was redirected to their bandcamp page and spent a few minutes listening to the one track on repeat. Without acknowledging the lo-fi quality of the track, I concluded that there is a distinguishable wave of slam or beatdown bands dwelling in San Antonio area I haven’t full tapped in yet. Path of Vengeance is one of Houston latest addition to the wave, stamping their existence into the culture. Although brief, their latest single adds a bit of a grimey, “watch your back” style of aggression to their sounds, leaving me curious as to what more music from the band would sound like.
