Happy 817 Day, New Music, Force of Will's Brass Knuckles

Today is August 17th, but for FWHC, it’s 817 day. It is the day of celebration for the Fort Worth residents, especially the ones who invest parts of their lives in one of the thriving scenes in Texas Hardcore. 817 is one of the famed area codes in the area, encompassing Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless region, including mid cities such as Roanoke and Grapevine. Known for its historical Western background, extensive variety in restaurants and hospitality, Fort Worth is home to sizable portion on North Texas hardcore. It’s a lovely day, not as hot as it has been for a while, and as expected, there’s a show tonight!

There is a show tonight featuring Fort Worth’s finest, Ozone, alongside Since My Beloved, Deep Cover, Burning and a special guest I have no clue about. Whoever the guest, I can almost bet bottom dollar it’s going to make it tonight 2x as memorable as I expected. This is the first stop of the 817 tour, the second stop at The Chess Club in Austin and the third stop at the Deco Ballroom in San Antonio. With a true Texas spirit, this event is a benefit show, donating canned goods to the Fort Worth Hope Center. Free entry with a minimum of 3 cans or items is available. The show will be held at Tulips in Fort Worth. For more information, tap the image above.

New music from Flu

DFW has birthed another new band, hitting the airwaves faster than a bird can blink. New band Flu has reached the surface. The band released a 4 pack ep with a hot 7 minutes. The sound features all the grimy elements of the chain punk, yet leaves room for a mid tempo jam and an impressive breakdown. I have had a pleasure having this project on repeat a few times. It caters toward my primal need for punk influenced hardcore, inducing more two steps and side to sides at shows. Its a fun listen and I could guess a super fun live performance. Force of Will’s Brass Knuckles

I am not fully aware of the history of unconventional hardcore merch but I am sure there are stories out there. In recent times, the piece of merch receiving a ton of attention was the infamous Gulch hoodie with the Sanrio rip. I have no idea why the particular merch item popped off the way it did but there is no denying it’s sudden rise to popularity. It nearly received the treatment of an antique.

In Texas, merch ideas are taken a step further. Earlier this year, outlaw hardcore band True Grit released customized rodeo belt buckles. Force of Will piggy backed and released photos of their brass knuckles. Previously they released miniature baseball bats hard enough to knock your lock off. I am not sure if these bad boys will be available to purchase or if they will be. If so, these brass knuckles are 100% legal in Texas for self defense purposes. I don’t know about you but I do NOT want to be on the receiving of that knuckle sandwich.
