Scowl/ Spy back in TX/ C. Seymore ft South Texas Tweek & Bloodmoney TX

Scowl and Spy headed back to Texas in September
From as far as I can remember, Texas and California has maintained a savory love connection since the 90’s, in terms of music. One of the first examples of the TX/CA connection I can think of is the legendary Dallas rapper The D.O.C and NWA. In the early to mid 2010’s Power Trip and Trash Talk was another example of the West Coast/ Southern alliance in my younger days of hardcore. Fast forward to the present day. Anyone who is anyone in the culture can tell the love intensified by a long shot. I can only speak for my region of Texas when I say we treat California bands like distant siblings. With that said, this is a courteous reminder that SCOWL and SPY are coming back to Texas.
If you haven’t attending their shows before, best believe you do NOT want to miss out this go around. Those folks from the west coast know how to bring the fun and the action like the first Die Hard movie. From the first time I seen Scowl a couple of years ago to when True Grit opened up for Spy and Sunami last March, I can attest to their version of a jam packed rodeo. Tap their image below so you don’t miss out on the fun and make sure you give them a nice warm welcome back! These shows are brought to you by Parade of Flesh
Christopher Seymour ft South Texas Tweek, “I Can Get Off On You”
As biased as it sounds, Texas has the best country music, all has and always will. There’s no way to change my mind. I know many will disagree, and for that I would assume those who do disagree are not from Texas. Nonetheless my opinion ( fact ) still stands. Furthermore, I take pride in my state and the current country artists who uphold our style in the respected genre. It’s artists like South Texas Tweek who reiterate my bias from time to time as I revisit his music for inspiration in playing the acoustic. I couldn’t be more proud of the Houston horni tonk artist. His numbers of plays on Spotify has significantly increased in a short period of time with his song, New Tattoos, reaching over 1 million plays. No matter which way you look at it, that is something to be proud of.
Earlier this morning, I was notified of the single “ I Can Get Off On You” with Christopher Seymore featuring Tweek. I was not aware of Christopher Seymore until today, so I took it upon myself to do some digging. Seymore is a songwriter from South Carolina who now resides in Houston ( he’s a Texan now) with a solid country background. Along with Tweek, these southern gentleman released a country tune, offering a contemporary twist to an old, classic sound. Enriched with the nostalgic elements on 70’s outlaw country, “ I Can Get Off On You” is the auditory version of Texas sweet tea to the ears of an average listener. Furthermore, its a doggone ballad expressing its love for the one who has taken the power away from an outlaw’s vice. Don’t let me tell it all, check it out for yourself by clicking HERE to check it out via Spotify. Also, if you’re in Houston tonight and you want to have some fun with these gentlemen, head on over to Dan Electro’s and wish Seymore a Happy Birthday!!
Houston HC band Bloodmoney TX
I may be a little late to the party but nonetheless discovering new hardcore bands in Texas is refreshing, like receiving at 9-5. My latest discovery is H-town’s latest hc group, Blood Money. From the looks of it, they are as fresh as the new car smell off the lot, a nice addition to the latest bunch of young guns currently killing the pit. In July, Bloodmoney released an ep following their 2022 demo, Lost Touch. This 4 piece combo is roughly 9 minutes deep and featuring the influential sounds of modern east coast heavy hardcore, brewed from the southern streets. Compelling yet intimidating, this ep is seemingly Bloodmoney’s stamp, letting people know they aren’t here to play. With aggression of the 200+ mosh, this ep alone solidifies where they stand and how they are coming. When and wherever their next show is, be sure not to miss out or you will be sorry that you did. You can find their demo on your preferred streaming service (Apple , Spotify, etc) and by tapping the image below, you can access their merch as well.
