Birdmasterflexxx- Sadboi ep

I always believed that the future of music is held in the hands of those who aren’t afraid to experiment with their craft, in the case I would consider “ genre- bending” as the phrase that closely relates to this subject. Although many artists from the past to the present have dipped their hands in genre-bending, only a good handful of them have succeeded, which makes it somewhat difficult to set a standard for, if there is even a “standard” for it. In our current times, many young artists are influenced by many genres of music across the board and are tapping into the depths of the creative side of their brain and throwing their efforts on a whim and releasing music that doesn’t necessary fit into one genre alone. Some have acquired huge success and others have fail miserably. Let’s talk a little about the Sadboi EP by Birdma$terflexxx.
Houston artist Birdma$terflexxx tells Bored that he isn’t afraid to experiment with the many different genres of music that influenced him from his adolescence to the present day. “ It isn’t out of the ordinary for me to come up with a single or an album completely off the rails from what else I’ve been doing” he states as he describes the essence of his ep. I translated that to what I would like to call, calculated unpredictability”. As anyone with common sense can assume, Birdma$terflexx indulged his ears to a healthy amount of house and EDM music to help curate this ep and with the help of producer Knotz to steer him in the direction he wanted to go.
Sadboi Ep is a short, two-song ep featuring a very interesting fusion of hip-hop/ trap and EDM music that’s able to capture like-minded ears who are regular rave or house party attendees. The instrumentals on this ep possess a very obvious uptempo/ EDM / House influence, the lyrical content is quite melancholy. In the repetitious track, Sadboi, Birdma$sterflexxx expresses the mood of loneliness while being intoxicated, surrounded by materialism. The second song, Cryin in the Trap, is also moody as the loathsome feeling creeps in, no matter how much money can buy.
