Season of the Curvy Fox, ep by Alex Blair

Season of the Curvy Fox, ep by Alex Blair

Just days before Thanksgiving, Dallas Jazz & Soul vocalist Alex Blair released the second, long-awaited EP, Season of the Curvy Fox, available on multiple DSP’s.

It has been three years since Blair has released an ep, Taste, Blair's last project was released in 2017 and presented a vulnerable body of work that tapped into her deepest emotions. Filled with slow jams and smooth R&B bops, it held a ton of potential. Fast forward to 2020, in the middle of a world pandemic and a whole world of change that has taken place, Blair releases Season of the Curvy Fox. Primarily, I was thinking about her latest single releases, Hittin’ It, and Delusional. I was thinking about the cartoon cover art theme that both singles and this ep have in common. I admired the correlation, it carried a fun, creative aesthetic. Each cover contained a reference of the older generation of cartoons, i.e. Betty Boop on the Delusional cover. From there, I assume this ep would be a direct reflection of her current self; fun, more upbeat, arousing, more in tune with herself, a higher level of confidence.

As opposed to its predecessor, Season of the Curvy Fox is showing off the more erotic side of the Dallas vocalist. The level of comfort she showcases in this ep appeals to the pleasures of stimulation. There is a hint of a comedic aspect that is catered by the skits in the Intro and the Outro, it gives the ep more character, like the correct amount of added seasoning on your favorite entree. Along with her latest singles, Along with her latest singles, Season of the Curvy Fox is 5 songs and 12 minutes of smooth seductive, auditory pleasure. Stargazing is cool, sensual dance bop that can take your dry spell out of the quarantine drought. There is a remix version of Delusional available on this ep that serves as a treat featuring the recording artist Lauren Skillz.
