Sunday Hardcore Two Pack

It has been a little bit since I have heard any fresh new hardcore punk coming out of the DFW metroplex so when I turned my attention to the two new bands, Formula and Cashing In, I felt a moment of satisfaction.

Cashing In: The Texas 5- piece band Cashing In released a two song ep of hardcore goodness that carries the essence and spirit of traditional 80’s hardcore punk with a contemporary elements. Containing the familiar energy that’s been passed through the generations, the ep Leaving Something Behind, is a bit introspective. Hello Goodbye! is a reminder that life is always going to move forward and there is no reward let it bring you down with laziness to hinder you from becoming a better version of yourself and Everlasting paints an interesting perspective on never taking time for granted. Formula: Fort Worth Hardcore punk band Formula just released their 3 song Fall Demo that was quick to grab my attention. The demo had a handful of different elements that make up its unique sound: the undeniable energy of hardcore riffage taken from the pages of older bands like Judges and Strife, fused with alternative, melodic components from post hardcore bands like Quicksand and Turning Point. The song Move is my highly favored song from this demo simply because of the flow and the calculated style switch in the duration of the song. Zane Daniel’s youthfulness in his vocals fits perfectly with the overall sound of the band. There is a ton of potential in Formula and I would love to witness their progression as time goes on. I’m anticipating their follow up release coming soon. To give Formula a listen, tap the image below.
