"Sugar, Spice and everything Nice"

Dallas recording artist Tay Money dropped the video for “Bih Like Me”, a song from her newly released album “Duh” available on Apple Music and Spotify . The video takes place in a hair salon, which is reminiscent to her previous occupation as a hairstylist. The visual is pure eye candy with nice execution of angles, attractive women, excellent color grading and possesses an early 2000’s Missy Elliot vibe. Big shout out to Dallas veteran videographer Dance Dailey for putting together another masterpiece.

Prior to her album release, I was aware of Tay Money. I would see her pop up on social media from time to time but didn’t pay much attention. It wasn’t until “Tay Day” , Tay Money’s first headlined show/birthday party that I really started to pay attention to her. The show was curated by Aeronotiqz and from what I heard from reliable sources, the show was a lot of fun. Everyone for the DFW came with love and support as they showed out for Tay Money. These days, she extremely difficult to not pay attention to; from her bold and colorful style, to her goofy and spunky attitude, her southern hospitality and adorable Texas accent is what undeniably sets herself apart from other female rappers she’s often compared to.

Born in Athens, a city located in Henderson County, Tx and roughly 73 miles from Dallas, Tay Money was raised on a farm that mainly consisted of cows, totally unassuming from what we see of her today. Very athletic in her younger years, she played basketball in the 6th grade and went on to play college softball. She had dreams of becoming a marine biologist, as she expresses her love for ocean life in a recent interview with 6ft. From there she became a hairstylist, hence the visual representation in “Bih like me”. In the middle of her career as a hairstylist, she began to lose interest as time went on. One day she ended up in the studio and proceeded to give the microphone 8 bars, before abruptly stopping due to her timidness

Like a handful of this generation of artists, Tay Money hasn’t been rapping for long at all. She’s only been rapping for a year and moved to Dallas two years ago, she blew up FAST. After gaining a slight buzz for songs “ Lewis and Clark” and “Na Na”, she really caught my attention with “ Money Way” and “Trappers Delight”, which is currently sitting at 3 million views on Worldstar Hip Hop, both videos shot by Dance Dailey. Behind her colorful exterior, her work ethic shines the most as she doesn’t maneuver through her journey to stardom without her team that consists of her manager, booking agent, producer, creative director and videographer.

Personally, I wish Tay Money the best in her endeavours. With DFW on the rise and oozing with talent all over the metroplex, she’s a rising star that is making the city proud. I’m not guaranteed that she would end up reading this write up but if so, keep going Tay Money, don’t stop.
