Coach Tev’s latest visual for Mini Cap

The level of workmanship that a handful of local recording artists possess is inspiring to say the least. As an entrepreneur in my own right, watching the finished product of a project, curated by a creative of sorts, is motivating and grants me a boost into my craft. It’s like watching your sibling succeed in their passion or watch a cancer patient surviving their battle. Without further ado, let’s talk about Coach Tev’s latest visual for Mini Cap.
Unbeknownst to me, after reading the Dallas Observer article, Coach Tev has a bachelor’s degree relating to film, which plays a role in the cinematography in this visual, shot and edited by Nicely Done Visuals. Mini Cap is shot very well; as a photographer myself, I have a extreme admiration for the variation of shots and angles that tell a story. What I thoroughly enjoyed about the visual is it is shot and edited in a story line sequence that followed along with the lyricism of the song, similar to a “book turned into a Netflix movie” concept.
The Mini Cap video translates to me that it’s a visual representation of Coach being some what of a “Jack of all Trades”. It showcases his talents, hence the hat/cap/ headphones that he discovered in the box at beginning of the video. As Coach reaches inside the box and pulls out the headphones, it’s obvious that it signifies his talent and education in film and the same happens when he picked up the cap and the scene jumped to the basketball court shot. What puzzles me is the story behind the excellent film noir shot with cameo appearance by Blake Cris. Unless there’s something that I missed or wasn’t aware of, I don’t have the slightest clue on a correlation with the shot. There’s mild speculation that the particular scene is in reference to previous music he has released but I don’t have enough evidence to support that theory. Nonetheless, as fan of his music and visuals, the video is a reminder as to why I am a fan of Coach; he never ceases to pull out quality tunes and visual to keep his fans full to the belly and wanting more.
