Monday’s Rotation

I have taken some time off from writing for no other reason besides the fact that I can. I invested more of my time into my newly acquired bread business, skateboarding and merely relaxing when I’m able to. It’s essential for me to take a step back unless I’m willing to stand in front of a wave filled with writer’s block and the frustration that trails behind. Although I’ve been less active on the production of Bored, it doesn’t stop my keen ear from listening to as much music as possible. Let’s get into it what’s on the Monday’s Rotation.

Tony Lxve - Quarantined Thoughts

DFW’s Deep State artist Tony Lxve doesn’t let the pandemic stop him from creating as he unleashed the visual for his latest single, “Quarantined Thoughts” earlier this month. Produced by Big Mars and videography by Reel Bump, Lxve dives into impressive sociopolitical lyricism that stems from the recent examples of inequality. In this visual, his expressions are mirrored by the African American and BLM imagery that appears throughout the video, indicating where Lxve stands. While wearing a mask to uphold the recent change in social requirements, Lxve is either inside peeping through the blinds or casually strolling through the city as it appears to be no one in his vicinity.

Lil Sega- Drunk Tonight

What I appreciate about music from Lil $ega is the level of authenticity that’s projected from his music. Whether the heavy usage of 808’s is blaring through the Bluetooth speaker or through AirPods into the ears of a casual listener, the alternative, comedic farce of $ega’s artistry remains the foundation and forefront of music. “Drunk Tonight” is an another example of the artist’s M.O. The cover art, along with many other cover arts, embellishes the aesthetic of the song. To check out “Drunk Tonight”, visit the button below

Gwap Lvrd D- In This B*tch

The first thing that caught my attention was Gwap Lvrd D’s dreads; it feels like it was last year that the tip of his hair barely reached his shoulders. Now they are about half way down his back and I have four words for that; self care, good hair. It’s impossible to take a glimpse at DFW underground rap and not stumble across Gwap Lvrd D (let alone Gwap Gang). His work ethic in music is mildly consistent and it’s always a Southern treat when he releases visuals. Shot by Jay Da Shoota and prod by YDNA, Gwap Lvrd D drops the video for the repetitious slapper, In This B*txh. The visual displays camaraderie and a level of fun as cameo appearances from Pheebe, Josh Young, Nesto, Lil Texxan and more are shown. Homies, women, beer, toys with triggers and a nice stack of ribs never hurt anyone.
