Friday afternoon with Devy Stonez

Friday afternoon with Devy Stonez

It has been usual Friday morning for me: 8 am 2 minute stretch followed by waking my daughter up for breakfast to start her virtual school day then paperwork, money deposits and making numerous calls. Usually the left airpod is perched in my left ear, of course, while listening to the latest DFW tunes. It was imperative that I tapped into the latest ep, Stoney, from the one and only Devy Stonez, available on all streaming platforms, courtesy of Good Company

The night before, my Twitter timeline erupted with a series of retweets containing the ep cover and the past couple of days, the Who Is He snippet has been shared numerous times on both Twitter and Instagram. With that much attention, one couldn’t help explore with curiosity and intrigue. Granted, I have been aware of artist Devy Stonez since early 2020. His album, Vol II: Forvever Chillin, was an exceptional body of work that was my official introduction to the artist; stylistic hip- hop that possesses the perfect kick-back vibe. The tone in his voice and his organic flow was the initial gravitation pull that turned me from a listener to a fan.

From the tunes that have I heard from Devy so far, I can say with enough confidence that Devy is the type of artist that virtually can’t go wrong ( unless he wanted to go for a music genre totally out of spectrum like… death metal ). His cadence and energy in his music keeps his fans on their toes, waiting his next release

Enter the Stoney EP

The Stoney Ep is an extremely short ep, a 3 song pack with 7 minutes of the latest Devy, fresh off the press and ready for auditory consumption. This ep pours a considerable amount of confidence and swagger in an avid listener’s ears and possess a bit of a insouciant attitude as an addition to his tone and flow. Although enjoyable and as of now one of my favorite projects of 2020, it took me 20 minutes to realize that it was on a repeat which resulted in me listening to the ep three times over. I was really eager to hear more, in a good way. In comparison, it was like eating a delicious slice of cheesecake and wanting the entire pie, I WANT MORE!
