Vulgar Display released ep “ Marked for Death” + more

Last week, I was casually cruising through the Denton square, heading towards the nearest QT gas station. As the light turned green and I passed the intersection, I look to my right and caught a glimpse of a pedestrian with one of Vulgar Display’s band t-shirts. The sight of it that took me back to the one of nights where they played at Tapatio Studios years ago. I remember this one particular night because during their performance, I caught a mosh warrior’s heel to my stomach. I got the wind knocked out of me but knowing me, I am the master of “playing it off” ( I feel my stomach aching just thinking about it). Since then the band has broken up and hardcore kids from back then have all grown up. Some of us are in relationships, kids , moved on and way or are still active the scene. If you ask me and probably several others, those were the glory days.

Yesterday, in the late evening, I notice that Vulgar Display resurfaced on social media again. Excitement and curiosity filled my sense as I discovered the meaning on this observation. Remaining members of the band released their ep “Marked of Death”. Originally, some of the songs were written back in 2015 and released as a promo. 4 years later and they finally released the full blown ep. I felt like a kid that tried his first piece of cake as I was listening to the ep; the Pantera-esque/ hardcore riffs, Brian Storms’ Texas style growling vocals and slowed breakdown parts rang through my youthful heart and I almost moshed on my computer table. As days get older, Vulgar Display becomes somewhat nostalgic for me, as the tunes bring me back to my mid 20’s. A huge part of me wishes the band would come back for one more reunion show. If so, I will not show up with my camera in hand as usual. Instead, I’ll be there in shorts and gym shoes, ready to dance the night away.
