Heavy Hitters IV

This past Thursday, Get Real Promotions released the flyer for the 4th annual Heavy Hitters fest in Austin Texas. Every since I have become aware of the HH fest, I have been impressed with the lineups that increasingly gets better over the years. This year, however, I am elated as I view the bands that will be in attendance this year. It almost feels like my eyes are playing tricks on me, I am stunned to see Boston HC legends DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR as the headliners of HH 4. As corny as it sounds, I am geeked to see them on stage again. All I need is for them to play “True Til Death” and “Friends, Family, Forever”, and that will make the rest of my year. I’m thrilled to see Texas HC legends Will to Live and Die Young step foot on stage again. It will be a treat to see them play. Personally, I have not seen them play so I’m curious to f@$! around and find out. Bands I am also delighted to see are Kaonashi, LIBERTY AND JUSTICE, Inner Self, Joust, and THESE STREETS for the 2nd time. For the ones who know, it’s going to be nothing short of chaos when watching Ballista and Sanity Slip play back to back. Let’s not forget the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae: 197 Media will be there to film the fest, so lets show them how we get down in Texas! Ballista’s August Tour

It is scientifically proven that America can’t get enough of DFW HC powerhouse Ballista. With that said, they will embark on another tour for the majority of the month in August, starting in the next couple of days. In addition, they will be sharing the stage with Buggin, Zulu and Move at the Tribes of Da Moon fest in NYC at the Bowery Ballroom. For those who don’t know, Tribes of da Moon fest is essentially an all black hardcore fest of some of the finest in the current culture. Soul Glo, Kharma, Knife Wound, End It, Playtime and more! Beyond Reach comes to DFW

Austin, Tx hardcore Beyond Reach is finally coming up to Dallas to strut their stuff at Black Cat Records N Comics. I had the pleasure of watching the band shred on stage last year at Heavy Hitters III. Similar to what they mentioned in their recent No Echo interview, the influences in their sound stems from an earlier style of hardcore: heavy riffs and two- step vibes that will prompt the listener to pull up to their shows in the camo short/ baseball cap/ XL and up tees, ready to destroy the pit. They will be playing alongside Cutthroat, Misanthrope, Life Cycles, Spit My Rage, with Soledad headlining. If you’re anything like me, this is in one of the first times you’ve heard of Black Cat Records and Comics. My only assumption is it is a small to mid size place.
