Gagging Order’s self titled ep

Gagging Order’s self titled ep

Yesterday, Gagging Order appeared on my radar around the mid afternoon. The band announced their single release on FaceBook and Twitter with the corresponding Bandcamp link. There was a slight bit of excitement that was overridden with curiosity as I repeated “Gagging Order” out loud to myself with a bit of a chuckle. I decided to increase anticipation and waited for the EP release instead of checking out the single . I rather use my patience to acquire the whole pizza instead of getting a slice first then the rest later. In the past few years, the more recent bands in the punk, hardcore and metal scenes in North Texas have been delivering heavy hitters. That fact alone circulated through my thoughts as I began to formulate expectations. Surely with a name like “Gagging Order” the band had to have some dope content to share. I also took into account that I have witnessed the energy of a couple of the band members at shows over a period of time so I assumed the music they create would be similar After a year of quarantine and limbo, I figured it fueled the band to release a project backed by the untapped energy of the yesteryear. This morning, Gagging Order released their self titled ep on multiple streaming platforms.

The ep is 5 songs deep with a scorching 8 mins. It follows the strict early hardcore punk song structure: short, loud, straight to the point, trim the fat, all meat and potatoes. The tempo of the modern punk rock riffs with the matching distortion creates what I call “raunchy catchiness” to the band. It speaks the language to those who are continue to carry their rebellious spirit. What I favor the most about this band is the level of energy they possess that is the catalyst of massive dog piles and bodily injuries from concert goers flying off of speakers. There’s nothing sweet about Gagging Order, they are as bold as black coffee. To give Gagging Order a listen, tap the preferred button below
