Coach Tev releases " No Worries, I'm Fine" ep

As a creative, one of the many aspects of releasing a project, whether it is an ep, album, visual, etc, is the marketing or its presentation. Regardless of how the popularity of any creative is perceived, the presentation and/ or marketing behind a release could possibly hold more attention from their fans than from the actual project itself. What keeps me intrigued about a release is either the anticipation that sets the tone or the corresponding story that creates a narrative around the release. An admirable aspect of Coach Tev releases that I have had the chance to hear so far is a brief story that sets the tone for his projects, it’s a good marketing strategy. It presents a sense of authenticity which ends up creating value to his craft. It is as if you are able to tap into his mind and spirit in the form of auditory journal entries, effortlessly narrated, and intertwined with elements of smooth jazz and contemporary hip-hop and R&B.

The relevance of his latest ep, No Worries, I’m Fine, is the reflection of our current time that many young adults can relate to. According to the corresponding artwork, No Worries, I’m Fine was put together during October 2020 when Tev tested positive for the COVID-19 and with the help of God, his wife, and good tea, he was able to beat the virus. Oct 15 takes a deep dive into the ups and downs of being in quarantine, starting from the relaxation of staying indoors and conducting business as usual to feeling the dreadful symptoms of this worldwide pandemic. Moving forward into the ep following after Dame Dash that is filled gems, bar for bar, is Party w Friends featuring TrapMama. This track is a fan favorite that presents lyrical stylistic transitions between both artists that complement each other. When listening to Can’t FWU featuring Devy Stonez and Lexaay, it reminds me of why Coach Tev sound seamlessly organic. That particular quality in his music stems from his consistency in his choices involving the production revolving around his group of peers that are extremely creative. At any time I see producer J08’s on anything Coach Tev related, I know it is going to be a good project. Ricardo Tubbs featuring Blake Cris is the perfect way to end the ep as each artist flex their lyrical art behind a jazzy, Motown- Esque instrumental.
