Alexandria Wilson

The late October weather seemed peculiar to me, I expected the forecast to be a little cooler but it didn’t oblige my expectations. Theoretically, I would’ve pointed blame at the increasing usage of fossil fuels but I refuge to fill my thoughts with the previous documentaries I viewed the night before. Pumpkin patches was another late fall tradition that failed my expectation. The pumpkin patches from the previous years contained more pumpkins this year, although it varied from location to location. For this photoshoot, I wanted to keep a simple autumn theme with pumpkins taking up space in a handful of shots. The disappointment didn’t last long when I arrived at a church in Richardson, Texas, I quickly thought of another location for the shoot. Fortunately, it was less than a minute from the primary location. After pulling into the small, compact parking lot and parked facing the adjacent residential neighborhood, a pearly white SUV with a car model that was more than likely released in 2016- 2017 pulled up four spaces to my left. I took it upon myself to hop out of the truck to show my presence to Alex. I quickly explained the change of plans and where the next location will be. She followed me down the road and before anyone could blink, we ended up turn right from Beltline Road into a decent size park that was filled with old trees that covered the entire area with strong and sturdy branches and leaves that were on its way to reach its seasonal expiration.
I’ve known Alexandra Wilson for quite some time, from high school to be exact. Alex and I graduated from the same high school in 2007. Thirteen years later, we reunited for a photo shoot. A while ago, she told me to keep her in mind the next time I thought about shooting an editorial. For a long time, I always thought she could become a successful model, my first thought was when we were juniors at Rowlett High. Currently, she is a hairstylist and a proud resident of East Garland.
It was around 5:30 and the sun was at its peak of the day. I mistakenly wore a jacket from my previous expectation so it wasn’t long before I became uncomfortable. After a bit of a conversation of catching up on all those years, the photoshoot was underway. Her confidence radiated through the lens as I spent the next hour and a half capturing her movement, shot after shot. There was beauty in all angles and her smooth, dark chocolate complexion was the main attraction. Towards the latter half of the shoot, her creativity showed as she positioned herself in many ways for imitating the “Vogue editorial” look. Shortly after, the evening was upon us, the sun was setting and it was time for our departure. It’s always good to catch up with an old friend and to create and share another memory because you’ll never know if you’ll have another opportunity to.
