Deep Incision's self titled ep out now!

We have entered into the second half of 2021 and if you are unaware of what’s going on in DFW, become aware of the recent flow of new core bands that have made their way across radars all over the nation. Each band with their own custom sound, DFW is the melting pot of heavy bands that offer unique, individualistic styles. This weekend witnessed a couple of new bands release excruciatingly heavy projects to flood our ear canals and commit auditory assault on our calloused ear drums. One of the latest DFW bands, Deep Incision, released a 3 piece violent, hyper tantrum available on Bandcamp
I feel like some listeners would compare Deep Incision to the Boston, Massachusetts band Vein, and that would be a cringe-fueled mistake. Deep Incision enters in the airwaves in sporadic fashion as traumapain begins. Shortly after the math core intro, reminiscent melodic metalcore riffs made its presence and from then on I was sold. It was as if I was already full aware of the potential and direction Deep Incision was heading. I was able to detect the influence of melodic aspect of the particular genre, a combination of As I Lay Dying/ Poison the Well. The usage of breakdowns in this ep is menacing; its feeds in the core’s tradition, it would be a sin to not incorporate breakdowns and flex the brutality of it. There’s a healthy amount of mathcore influence that isn’t as overwhelming as I assumed it would be. Nate Joesph, guitarist and vocals of Deep Incision, tells Bored that the band drew inspiration from metal core pioneers Converge and H800 bands, a term used to describe the old school deathcore / metalcore scene that originated in Belgium during the 90’s. The first band that comes to mind is Congress. Although it may seem chaotic, you’re able to distinguish influence from other heavy subgenres and impressive transitions within the tempo and style change. Deep Incision’s ability to mesh their inspirations well enough to make a cohesive project can’t be ignored. Through anger, and self loathsome running through the veins and spilling from their screeching vocal chords, Deep Incision is the equivalent to the hair raising danger of being surrounded by a pack of rabid wolves that suffered from starvation and you ended up being a dinner option.
