One in tha Chamber - Behind Enemy Lines ep

For a week prior to the Behind Enemy Lines release, I tuned into two heavy hardcore bands that re- captured my attention: Connecticut’s Laid to Rest and Germany’s FallBrawl. After coming to the end of my heavy music hiatus, I listen to these two bands as a re- introductory session into the genre or any other similar genre of music. The heaviness and creativity of a properly executed breakdowns stimulates my fascination for the sub genre of hardcore. When I listen to One in tha Chamber’s Behind Enemy Lines ep, my ears are refreshed and satisfied. It has been a while from the last time I was pleased to listen to a new beatdown band. Earlier today, I was more than pleased.

Following their single, Contact Front, that was released earlier month, Behind Enemy Lines serves as the entree along with a dessert that possesses a humorous kick. As soon as I began to listen to the ep, I received a smack in the face after the beginning dialogue sample. The following 30 second was sheer aggression and impudence fused with double bass mayhem and heavy strumming as frontman Taylor Riley shares his disdain for cowards and punishes their frailties. Christopher Dorner proved to be an original title to express the aversion towards law enforcement, nonetheless the song is a banger. It presents the classic anti- authoritarian approach with angst. The news clip in the beginning of the song offers depth into the song,

“Christopher Dorner is in heaven for killing a bunch of punk ass cops”

Fu OITC is on the comedic tail end of the ep and I found it to be entertaining. This song took their arrogance and cockiness to the next level and formed a diss track to its fellow DFW hardcore bands. I enjoyed the level of farce that is included in the last moment of the song featuring Zane Daniel on the stand up bit.
