Music Review: Joule$ & Cj Topoff’s “Acid and Chill”

Arlington’s local shaman Joules and The Psychedelic Prophet Cj Topoff released an ep together earlier in July titled “ Acid and Chill” and in my opinion, it makes sense. Yes, it makes perfect sense that these two artist would combine forces and release material together. Both gentlemen are unique in their own way as they demonstrate that they are two peas in the same pod. Respectively, they compliment each other while giving each other enough to space to express themselves without one stepping on the other’s foot. Fans on one or both artists will enjoy the ep, it’s a real treat unless you’re biased but that’s a personal issue.

The ep is a short one, 5 songs that finish at a strong 11 mins. The ep replayed three times before I realized how short it was. Cj’s classic, monotone flow and Joules’ unique lyricism and indistinct harmonizing/humming go hand in hand, track to track to the end. The beat selection help shape the psychedelic ambiance the duo accomplished. This ep is the perfect music to play when yo enter your local smoke shop.
